Love the Firm Wave! July 23, 2010 Rebecca Toy (Aberdeen, WA United States) I have worked out faithfully since in my 20's but after several injuries and many years later, I had put on 15 pounds and gotten pretty out of shape. I had tried to maintain as best I could by doing light yoga and walking with a few weight lifting sessions tossed in occasionally but then I tore my shoulder muscle and was reduced to just walking. After months of physical therapy my shoulder was improved enough to do some very light weight lifting a few days a week so I added that to walking but I still wasn't seeing much improvement. In February 2010 I turned 60 and woke up to the fact that if I was going to get into shape I needed to work harder at it and make changes in my diet such as cutting way back on sugar and focusing on eating only healthy foods in the right amounts. I also started looking for a more complete workout I could do at home every day. I had done Firm workouts many years ago and they had really helped me be in great shape so when I saw the Wave workout I thought I should give it a try. I got it in April and after doing the intro workout one time, I have done one of the workouts at least 6 days a week since. At first I wondered if I was crazy to think I could do them at my age and fitness level but I worked through the frustration and kept going anyway and in a few weeks I was doing them pretty well and noticing a difference already. Within 3 months I had increased the weights from 3 to 5 pounds and had lost over 13 pounds. I also like that the workouts are from 10-40 minutes apiece and still very effective. I am now healthier and in better shape than I have been in many years. I credit the diet changes for at least half of my success and am glad I 'kicked' my sugar addiction but I also feel the Firm Wave workout does deliver if done consistently. If I can accomplish this at my age and fitness level then anyone can.
Stick to the Transfirmer, this is not a strenuous workout July 13, 2010 Lizzy B (New York, NY) Let me preface this by saying that I am not a super fit person; I am moderately fit, but I'm not like the Firm instructors!
I found the Wave fun and novel, but not a great work out. I think it might be great for beginners, those who need something fun to stay motivated, and not long enough to discourage them. But if you've been using the Firm already, as I have, you may find this less-than-satisfying. I've done both the included workouts, and though I broke a sweat, I don't feel nearly as worked-out and good as I do with the Transfirmer and earlier Firm workouts. The earlier things were "easy" in terms of learning the moves, but you can make them harder and harder increasing the weights. These workouts, using their own cardio weights, makes it difficult to know what resistance to use, and I found that the reps were often so fast that I had to use light weights, even though I wanted more resistance.
Maybe I'd feel more satisfied if the workouts were longer-- 30 minutes and 40 minutes are just not enough, unless you are an absolute beginner. Maybe I will try the other workout videos made to use the Wave.
For now, I will only use this on days that I am too tired to do a regular workout, and go back to the older Firm product that maybe are a little more boring, but a whole lot more effective.
Well rounded work out! July 11, 2010 Mary Em (NY) Love it! The workouts are concise and fast moving. You get little bursts of everything from kick boxing to light weights to crunches. All of it is easily adaptable. I agree that at times the footwork moves a little too quickly but you should be able to get it after a few tries. After just a couple of weeks I am seeing and feeling huge changes. I follow the included schedule along with daily walks and yoga. I don't see myself getting bored with this too quickly. I can also see myself pulling this out periodically for a quick tune up.
not pleased July 4, 2010 granny 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the product NEW but when it arrived it was used dvds wouldn't play piece missing and there was cat hair in the dvds when opened and I have to pay to have it shipped back. So I really didn't get the chance to try the product. Not pleased with the product or Amazon.
Love to workout with this! July 1, 2010 Roxy I've been a firm fan for a while now, I have past products from them that I still like to use. But, with the introduction of the wave... this system has become the method of exercising that I use the most. One great reason is that I like how you can choose the speedier options, on avg. 20 mins in length, for those days you fall short on time and still feel like you completed a good workout. I feel good after each and every time I workout with this system. Overall, it's an engaging workout where the time flies as you do it. I use mine weekly. Definitely recommend this system for those of you who want to enjoy working out and get the benefits from exercising.
